Michael Conner

Michael Connor

Micheal W. Conner joins the faculty of Ohio University School of Fine Arts, as a visiting assistant professor of Art History, 1997-98. He is currently teaching courses on African and Pre-Columbian art with a special emphasis on ceramics and the use of the World Wide Web as an academic tool. He completed both his M.A. and Ph.D. in African art history with Roy Sieber at Indiana University. His doctoral dissertation fieldwork examined the traditional arts of both the Zulu and the Malawi Ngoni of Southern Africa.

Dr. Conner is especialy interested in distance learning initiatives and has taught African art through the Indiana University School of Continuing Studies. As a collections concultant, he has been involved in interactive installations and museum projects involving advanced technology, including the development of African art CD-ROM's, virtual exhibitions over the Internet, and electronic communication. He is presently the Humanities Online moderator/editor for the Arts Council of the African Studies Association (ACASA) and maintains the H-AFRARTS WWW page:

Visual Arts of Africa

Judith Perani is a Professor of Art History and Interim Director of the School of Art. She holds a Phd. from Indiana University. She has conducted research in Nigeria, Liberia, and Sierra Leone, and has published serveral articles, catalog entries, and anthology essays. She has traveled in West and East Africa.
