Course
Description

Examines the role of play, sports, and games in the life of women. Explores place of women in sports world, and reflects on special attitudes and structures of women's sports. 3 lec.

Methods of Course Instruction

Blackboard course content, discussion boards, PowerPoint on Blackboard, and video download presentations.


Course Objectives

Upon satisfactory completion of the course, the student will have an increased knowledge and appreciation of:

  1. Women’s participation in sports; past and present

  2. Political and social influence on women in sport.

  3. Governing bodies and government influence on women’s sport participation

  4. Physiological and psychological issues.

  5. Global aspects of women’s involvement in sport.

  6. Economics of sports and women’s career possibilities.

  7. Contemporary Issues in Women’s Sports.

All other materials will be provided on-line and students must be have access to computer systems that support streaming movies.

Exams
Requirements

1 final exam - Proctoring required (Professor will attend)

How are exams to be taken:  Exams are to be taken on-line at home through Blackboard, all questions are multiple choice.

Dates of Exams
Target dates Dec 5, 17 and 28.  All exams are available on-line for at least 48 hours.  Students may choose any convenient time during those hours to complete the exams.
