Course
Description

Historical development of photography from its inception to present including comprehensive study of artistic and technical development of major photography movements.

Prerequisites

None



Methods of Course Instruction

Course is delivered through Blackboard. Content of the course is taken from web sites, articles, and textbook. Students participate through the discussion board.


Course Objectives

By the end of the class, the students will be able to do the following:

  1. Be familiar with the technology of photography, including types of cameras, different developing and printing techniques, and the use of digital images.

  2. Be familiar with major stylistic movements, photographers, and individual photographs.

  3. Be familiar with the critical discourse about photography, including the names of authors.


General Course Requirements

  1. Multiple choice worksheet for each chapter. There will be approximately two chapters assigned each week.

  2. Two power point presentations on selected topics in photography.

  3. A crossword puzzle.

  4. A midterm and a final exam. These are take home, essay exams.
