The Center for Teaching and Learning sponsors workshops throughout the year. Sample topics include teaching the larger lecture class, creating a teaching portfolio, and strategies for creating an engaged and active learning environment. | The mini-retreat will include a workshop facilitated by Prof. Swarup Wood (California State University, Monterey Bay), co-author of the newly-released book, Outcomes-based Assessment for Learner-centered Education: A Faculty Introduction (Stylus, 2007). This workshop is well-suited to Ohio University's movement to outcomes-based education, which seeks "to empower faculty to develop and maintain ownership of assessment by articulating the learning outcomes and evidence of learning that are appropriate for their courses and programs." A copy of Prof. Wood's book will be provided in advance to workshop participants. |
