Course
Description

This entirely web-based course will introduce the student to the basic elements of environmental health and safety (in doing so it will partially fulfill the Tier II general education requirement at OU).  The students will discover a variety of sometimes disparate topics dealing with public health matters related to the individual’s environment.  Problem identification, assessment, and management will be covered.

Prerequisites

None

Methods of Course Instruction

All course content is presented on the World Wide Web; e-mail is used for submission of assignments, as well as for the instructor's evaluation and comments.

Course Objectives

Educate the student about current health aspects of the macro- and micro-environment, public and occupational health issues, and safety.  Introduce content areas of the environmental sciences and industrial hygiene majors.  Model key environmental health and safety issues, and encourage independent problem recognition, evaluation, and resolution through a field observation exercise.
