Code of Ethics

We are dedicated to the students of Ohio University and it is our goal to respect the dignity and integrity of students on the campus.

  • We respect the Ohio University Student Code of Conduct Policy as the appropriate instrument for defining the rights and responsibilities of Ohio University students.
  • We will be sensitive to and have respect for the religious history of students. We affirm that any persuasive effort that restricts a student's freedom to choose is unethical.
  • We will be sensitive to the academic responsibilities of students affiliated with other religious campus groups.
  • Our primary field of prospective members will not be among students currently involved with other religious campus groups.
  • When promoting our ministry we will clearly identify ourselves and our affiliation.

We are dedicated to upholding Ohio University programs and policies.

  • We view ourselves as cooperative members of the university community and will act as a part of it.
  • When exercising our freedom to question or dispute Ohio University programs or policies we will do so in a peaceful and professional manner.
  • We will respect the program and policies of Ohio University on all levels concerning proper conduct toward students and proper behavior on campus.
  • All campus advertising will clearly identify our sponsoring religious organization.

We are dedicated to respecting other campus religious leaders at Ohio University.

  • We will affirm the value of a collegial relationship between UIA members.
  • We will assume the sincerity and good will of UIA members. In case of reported misunderstandings, we will assume proper motives and investigate with such expectations. We will grant one another the benefit of the doubt.
  • We will seek to create dialogue with other UIA members in order to increase understanding and mutual support of our common mission to serve the university community.
  • We will seek to represent accurately, the beliefs of other faiths and ministries.
  • We will seek cooperation whenever possible. Understanding ours to be a professional rather than a theological commitment to one another, we will agree to disagree on matters of faith and practice.
