Paul Darby

Paul Darby is a lecturer in the sociology of sport at the University of Ulster . He has published several articles on the relationship between Africa and Europe as mediated by football and is author of ' Africa , Football and FIFA: Politics, Colonialism and Resistance'. He has also written on the politics of sport in Northern Ireland , sport and Swedish social democracy and the role of Gaelic games amongst the Irish diaspora in the United States . He was Senior Academic Editor of the international journal 'Soccer and Society' between 2000-2005 and now sits on the editorial board of the journal. He received his doctorate from the University of Ulster in 1997.
