| B.A. in Public Administration
The
Department of Political Science offers a separate major in
Public Administration. This interdisciplinary program is designed
to provide a broad undergraduate training in preparation for
a career in the public and non-profit sectors. This major
supplies a solid understanding of budgeting, personnel administration,
intergovernmental relations, public policy analysis, and general
administration.
A career
in government service at the local, state, national, or international level
is an attractive possibility for those with a good background in political
science. The scope and variety of responsibilities undertaken by government
at all levels are enormous. Internships with public officials and agencies
can help you develop the contacts and knowledge needed to enter this field.
Advanced training in such fields as public administration, urban planning,
or political research and analysis provide especially good preparation
for a career in public service.
Students majoring
in Public Administration are encouraged to tailor this course
of study to meet individual needs while completing the specific
