MPA Program
The
Master of Public Administration
is a professional degree that
requires 70 hours of course
work including a public affairs
internship or practicum, and
it usually takes about two
years of full time study.
The
Department of Political Science
offers multiple programs in
public administration for students
at all levels, locations, and
employment circumstances. These
programs are intended to prepare
undergraduate and graduate students
for careers in government service
or non-profit administration.
Students on
the Athens campus can complete
the MPA in the full-time
program in four academic
quarters. Ohio University
undergraduates can earn both
a Bachelor’s degree
and an MPA in five years through
the 4
+ 1 option.
For
those already employed in
government service, there
is a part-time evening
program in Athens. Classes
are scheduled on weeknights
from 6-10, meeting once a
week. In 2002, a weekend
program was created for
working professionals around
the region. Also known as
the Ohio
Executive MPA, this program
combines online learning with
once-a-month weekend class
meetings in Athens.
