MA Program

Ohio University's Department of Political Science awards a Master of Arts (MA) in political science. Students come to the program with a variety of goals and backgrounds, but they all benefit from a rigorous and flexible course of study, an accessible faculty with diverse interests and experience and excellent facilities for research and study. It's a combination that allows our graduate students to succeed- and they do. Each year, some of them go on to work toward a J.D. or Ph.D. at leading law and graduate schools, while others go into careers in government service, politics, journalism, communications, business, and teaching. Graduate students in political science at Ohio University can pursue the MA in Political Science, which generally takes about four quarters of full-time study.

The department offers a wide range of coursework, including seminars in each of its four fields of specialization: American Government, Comparative Politics, International Relations, and Political Theory. This breadth allows graduate students, in consultation with an advisor, to construct a program that fits their particular needs. For more information about the MA program, contact the Graduate Secretary, Susie Abbott
