Since
graduating from the M.A. program in Political Science at Ohio University,
I have made advocacy a way of life. I now represent the interests of a
major manufacturing sector of the U.S. economy before the Administration
and Congress. I practice daily the critical thinking and cross-cultural
communication skills taught to me by O.U.'s faculty of lifelong professors,
recognized topical experts and former public administrators.
The
curriculum illustrates how the hard interests of quantitative political
analysis and economics and soft interests of relationship building, persuasion
and concession influence policy making at the national and international
level. O.U. prepared me to work in Washington, D.C. where a premium is
placed on the capacity of an individual to understand policymaking from
vast vantage points.

The
M.A. program in Political Science at Ohio University is an ideal stepping-stone
on the road to earning a Ph.D. The coursework exposes students to a wealth
of practical and theoretical knowledge. Moreover, the faculty are keenly
interested in sharpening students' analytical skills and are well positioned
to place students in either policy positions or Ph.D. programs.

The
MA program helped me to recognize that a career in public interest environmental
law was for me, gave me a solid preparation for law school, and put me
in a position to attend Harvard. My professors and courses examined the
environmental issues about which I was concerned in a variety of contexts,
including domestic politics, international relations, and the realm of
social movements, and from a number of perspectives, including those critical
of current economic and political systems. The material I read and wrote
about and the discussions I had with my professors and fellow students
were often better than those I have at Harvard. I haven't experienced anything
like the support, guidance, and individual attention I received from the
faculty since I left OU.

The
evening program in public administration has been a wonderful experience.
Having the opportunity to interact with and learn from a group of individuals
who bring not only academic information but practical, real world experiences
into the classroom has truly energized me. I feel more confident in my
ability to perform my current job, and more qualified to pursue additional
career opportunities.

The
Political Science program at Ohio University not only provided me with
the education I needed to excel, but also the strong network of alumni
has been an endless source of opportunity and support as well as the key
to obtaining many of my career goals.

For
me, participation in Ohio University's evening Public Administration program
was an exceptionally rewarding and educational process. This program allowed
me to meet my professional obligations, while at the same time providing
me with the opportunity to expand my academic and professional horizons.
Most
importantly, Ohio University's evening MA program provided an important
mix of practical and academic guidance and knowledge to assist me in my
chosen path of public policy administration. This 'mix' also extended to
my classmate's participation in this program. Their involvement made this
endeavor much more enjoyable and educational than had this been a more
'traditional' graduate program. Whether it was a S.W.A.T. Police Officer,
or a CEO of a major Not For Profit, their professional and personal life
experiences and insights added enriching dialogue and debate to the practical
implications of our graduate studies.
In
short, I would highly recommend this program to anyone who is in interested
in advancing in any private or public professional arena that is impacted
by today's public policy issues.

The
Ohio University Public Administration Program was the most satisfying educational
opportunity of my life. At the time when I was enrolled in the program,
I was a public servant directing the operations of a county department
of human services. The curriculum not only reinforced many things that
I was already doing, but also provided me with valuable new skill and knowledge
that I have applied throughout my public service career.
I have
been particularly pleased that the department of Political Science has
continued to integrate newly developed concepts and research into the curriculum
so that it remains current with today's issues. One measure of value of
any program is answering the simple question: "Would you do it again?"
My answer would be a definite "yes".
