RON
HUNT is Professor of Political
Science and former Department Chair. Before receiving his
Ph.D. in Political Science,
he received a B.S. in Business
Administration and an M.A.
in Economics. All three degrees
were from Ohio State University.
Dr. Hunt's research and teaching
have focused on the political
economy of capitalism, Marxism,
and the interface of sexuality
and politics.
He
teaches an introductory course in American Politics (POLS
102), courses in political theory such as Modern Political
Thought (POLS 372/572), Contemporary Political Thought (POLS
373/573), and Seminar in Political Theory (POLS 670). Hunt
also teaches specialized courses in Gay and Lesbian Politics
and queer theory. He has been the recipient of a number of
teaching awards, including the College of Arts and Sciences
Outstanding Teacher Award, the Jeanette G. Grasselli Teaching
Excellence Award, the Class of 1950 Teaching Excellence Award,
and the University Professor Award.
He
has published articles in PS: Political Science And Politics,
and Polity, and is the author of "David Ricardo" in
John R. Greenfield, ed. Dictionary of Literary Biography:
British Romantic Prose Writers: 1789-1832. Most recently,
he has been active in the American Political Science Association's
Gay and Lesbian Caucus where he has contributed professional
papers and served as Program Chair. In 1997-98 he served as
President of the Caucus. Professor Hunt is the author of the
Historical Dictionary of the Gay Rights Movement: Gay Men
and the Quest for Social Justice.
