Environmental Studies Certificate
The field of Environmental Studies encompasses complex interactions among humans and other organisms, and the biophysical environment. The College of Arts and Sciences offers this certificate for students who want to gain knowledge and understanding about the interdisciplinary field of environmental studies. The certificate coupled with a degree in Political Science provides a strong background for individuals interested in environmental policy, law, and lobbying.

International Studies Certificate
The Center for International Studies offers certificates in African, Asian, European, and Latin American Studies for students who wish to add an international dimension to their program of study. The certificate provides a good focus for political science majors interested in international affairs.

Women's Studies Certificate
The College of Arts and Sciences also offers a Women's Studies Certificate. Requirements include Introduction to Women's Studies, Issues in Feminism, and a total of 30 credit hours of specialized course work. Students interested in the role of women in politics should consider this certificate.

Political Communications Certificate
The Colleges of Arts and Sciences and Communications jointly sponsor the certificate in Political Communications for students who wish to supplement their undergraduate major with an inquiry into the arena of politics and government. Political Communication encompasses the interactions of political figures, political issues, the media, and the public.
The program is open to any undergraduate student in the university. As a supplement to your undergraduate degree, the certificate will show that you are a strong communicator with a working knowledge of the political system. And if you happen to be interested in such jobs as legislative aide, political consultant, political reporter, or lobbyist, you will find the Political Communications program especially relevant.
