Of note to Political Science students:
The Herman G. James Lecture on Municipal Government forty-third annual lecture will be held Tuesday, April 29, 2008 at 8:00 PM in the Baker Center Ballroom.
Guest speaker is Dr. Charles Epp, Associate Professor of Public Administration at the University of Kansas. Dr. Epp's lecture "Race, Law and Metropolitan Governance" draws from his research on racial profiling and police reform, Dr. Epp will suggest that racial disparities in law enforcement represent one of the most significant threats to metropolitan stability over the next decade. Dr. Epp will discuss past efforts to reform similar policing problems and, drawing lessons from those approaches, will suggest possible solutions to the racial profiling predicament.
