1960sMichael Dickerson, BFA '60, visiting professor in public relations at George Mason University, was voted by students as their favorite Communications Department professor in 2000. Lawrence Crum, BS '63, MS '65, research professor of electrical engineering and bioengineering at the University of Washington and principal physicist at the university's Applied Physics Laboratory, is associate team leader for the Smart Medical Systems Team of the National Space Biomedical Research Institute. Jeffrey Green, BBA '66, of Shelby, Ohio, is general manager of Gorman-Rupp and Associates Credit Union. James Otermat, BSCE '64, is president and CEO of Mosser Construction Inc. in Fremont, Ohio. His executive vice president is Royce Kohman, BSCE '71, MS '72. Kenneth Peak, BS '67, chairman and CEO of Contango Oil and Gas Co. in Houston, rang the bell at the American Stock Exchange on Jan. 18, 2001, when the company began its first day of trading. Barbara Glenk Good, AB '68, MS '75, is director of scientific publications for the Pittsburgh-based National Surgical Adjuvant Breast and Bowel Project, a cooperative clinical trials group supported by the National Cancer Institute. She is past president of the American Medical Writers Association. Manfred "Bob" Hopfe, PHD '68, professor of management information science at California State University, Sacramento, received the university's Outstanding Teaching Award. Patricia Montag, BSJ '68, is selling residential and investment property in the San Francisco Bay Area after leaving a 15-year career in advertising and broadcasting. Daniel Dupps, BSED '69, MED '72, who retired in 1994 after 25 years as a teacher, principal and superintendent, is mayor of Heath, Ohio. Carl Fleischhauer, MFA '69, is photographer and co-author of the book "Bluegrass Odyssey: A Documentary in Pictures and Words, 1966-86," which features more than 200 photographs documenting bluegrass musicians. Fleischhauer coordinates projects at the Library of Congress' National Digital Library Program, where he is developing new approaches to the preservation of the library's audio and video holdings. Dave Harp, AB '69, who operates a commercial and editorial photography business in Baltimore, is president of the American Society of Media Photographers. He previously was a photographer for The Baltimore Sun Magazine and was nominated for a Pulitzer Prize. John Peters, MA '69, was named president of Northern Illinois University in March 2000. He previously served as provost and chief operating officer at the University of Tennessee for seven years. Prior to that, he was dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Nebraska, Lincoln. Criss Somerlot, BSED '69, of Centerville, Ohio, retired after 30 years of teaching and coaching and now has his own business conducting track-and-field clinics for young athletes across the United States. John Zimmerman, BBA '69, is vice president of finance and operations and chief financial officer for Vertical Networks in Sunnyvale, Calif. |
