ADN COURSES
The ADN Program has three major categories of required courses: (1) prerequisites, (2) general education requirements, and (3) nursing courses. Prerequisite courses include anatomy and physiology, chemistry, nutrition, microbiology, psychology, sociology, and college algebra. All must be completed with a grade of “C” or better. General education requirements include freshman English and math. The college algebra requirement will meet the math requirement. Nursing courses will include classroom and clinical courses in medical-surgical, pediatric, psychiatric, and maternity and newborn areas.
Courses taken at other colleges will be evaluated for transfer credit. If the content is equivalent to the relevant Ohio University course and the earned grade is at least a “C” it may be transferred. Decisions about transfer credit will be made on a case-by-case basis.
Admission to the ADN Program is competitive. Scores on the required standardized test, grades in prerequisite courses, and the individual’s statement of goals are used in making admission decisions. Admission to Ohio University does not guarantee admission to the ADN Program.
The following program outline illustrates a full time schedule and assumes that all courses will be taken at Ohio University. |
