I graduated with a degree in International Trade in Brazil. I’m very interested in these issues and would like to incorporate these topics in my thesis. Additionally, I hope to apply the knowledge that I will gain at OU in my future occupation.

Studying at Ohio University I am seeking a Master Degree, focusing in Latin American Studies. I am looking forward this new experience and learning and absorbing all good things this entity has to offer!

Areas of study & interest: I am interested in political/social movements, unification processes of Latin America, especially in Central America .

I have spent a lot of time in Central America. In 2004 I studied in Nicaragua for 4 months, in 2005 I spent two weeks in Costa Rica buming around, in 2006 and most of 2007 I volunteered in Talanga, Honduras (find that one the map) through Passionist Volunteers International and in 2008 I worked for 2 months in El Salvador through CRISPAZ. I am looking forward to getting back to Nicaragua to work this coming winter and spring quarters.

My undergraduate was in Spanish at OU, where I was able to travel to Ecuador and Puerto Rico. I just finished my first year of my masters in Spanish, specializing in Latin American literature, and am switching gears to focus on the Latin American Studies program. I'm going to work on a project about alternative birthing methods in Latin America, specifically natural birth centers and midwifery. I hope to travel to Ciudad Vieja, Guatemala in the winter to work as a Doula in a natural birth center and begin my research.

From: I was born in El Salvador but I moved to Southern California with my family when I was two years old.

Areas of study & interest: U.S. Latin American Relations, U.S Foreign Policy in Central America, revolutions, dictatorships, and human rights violations

I graduated from Cal State Fullerton in Political Science & Latin American Studies. I love to travel and I have visited countries in Africa, the Middle East and Latin America. I recently went to Brasil this summer and it was amazing!!

Areas of study & interest: US-Latin American Relations and Border Studies

I graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with degrees in Psychology and Spanish, and a certificate in Latin American Studies. During my time at Pitt I was given the opportunity to travel to Ecuador and conduct field research at an alternative medicine clinic in the city of Otavalo. That experience (and living with my amazing Ecuadorian host family) is the origin of my love for Latin America and its people. I intend to earn a PhD after I complete my work at Ohio University and then ultimately hope to obtain a position within the Department of Homeland Security.
