Course
Overview: This course requires integration and application of professional knowledge, skills, and technologies in order to complete a professional project for a business, industry or community organization.
A shift from a technical professional to a career in management requires a shift in perception. The main purpose of this capstone course is to integrate learning from all the courses in the bachelor of technical and applied studies program with the rest of the student's academic and work experience. It is an opportunity for the student to demonstrate accomplishment of the full spectrum of that learning.
This course has two major components. First, the performance component requires the application of professional skills learned in this program by working on a service learning project for a community organization. Second, the student will practice interpersonal skills by interviewing a person the student respects as a leader to learn from his/her experience.
The student will then use that learning combined with personal experience and reflections to write a paper which will help the student to assess his/her purpose in life and in the career path that he/she will be pursuing. The course focuses on three important aspects of modern business: ethics, globalization and diversity. |
