Metric System

| COURSE OVERVIEW: This course provides an introductory overview of the metric system of units, including history and rationale, definitions, and conversions within and between systems of units. |
| METHODS OF COURSE INSTRUCTION: All material for this course is print-based. Instructor and students communicate and exchange materials through postal mail. |
| TEXTBOOKS AND SUPPLIES: The course is self-contained; no textbook is required. |
| LESSONS
AND WRITING ASSIGNMENTS:
The
course has four lessons, including one supervised examination.
Each lesson has a writing assignment consisting of multiple-choice
questions covering the reading material in the lesson. |
EXAMINATIONS:
The
course has a comprehensive final examination consisting of multiple-choice
questions and problems similar to those in the lesson writing
assignments. Two hours is allowed for the examination; no books,
notes, or supplementary aids are permitted.
If you reside near an Ohio University campus, you must take your examination at the nearest campus. Others can arrange to have their examinations proctored at another accredited college or university or, if it is more convenient, at an accredited local high school. Ohio University reserves the right to reject a proposed examination supervisor. Detailed information about examination procedures will be included with your enrollment material. Examinations may not be taken online nor by e-mail. |
