| If you have an applied or technical associate degree or are a member of the American Correctional Association and you are interested in earning a bachelor's degree,
Ohio University offers three bachelor's
degrees that may be right for you.
The Bachelor of Criminal Justice is a true "two plus two" degree. You can take your criminal justice related
associate degree (law enforcement, corrections,
human services, paralegal, etc.) and complete
the requirements for the BCJ entirely at a
distance. Ohio University courses that are
job-related are also approved for yearly ACA
recertification. Graduating seniors in the
BCJ program qualify for the status of Certified
Corrections Officer/Provisional (CCO/P) or
Certified Corrections Supervisor/Provisional
(CCS/P).
The Bachelor
of Technical and Applied Studies,
also a true "two plus two" completion degree,
allows you to take your technical or applied
associate degree in a non-corrections related
area and earn a professional bachelor's
degree almost entirely at a distance (one
BTAS course requires brief face-to-face
instruction).
The
Bachelor
of Specialized Studies is
a multi-disciplinary degree program designed
by an individual student. Although Ohio University
offers a wide array of majors and degree programs,
some students find that their interests,
talents, backgrounds, and goals cannot
be addressed by existing programs. The
Bachelor of Specialized Studies program
provides the means by which a student may,
with the help of an advisor
and consultation with faculty, design his or
her degree program.
The
BCJ, BSS or the BTAS will provide you with
knowledge, skills, and dispositions necessary
for advancement in your chosen careers,
and will integrate the technical skills
developed within applied associate degree
programs with the professional skills intrinsic
to a bachelor's degree program.
