GLOBE's primarily functions are to provide support for and foster community among lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) faculty and staff and to mobilize LGBT faculty and staff and our supporters when action is necessary. We also work to educate the broader campus community and promote understanding and appreciation of diversity, assess the OU environment and encourage practices which encompass full human rights, and promote academic courses and programs that present intellectual discussions and critiques of same-sex issues as energies permit. Additionally, serve as an advocate for the interests of LGBT faculty and staff and network with similar university-based organizations throughout the state of Ohio and the nation as needed.
