Proposal Guidelines 2008

Proposal Instructions
Proposal should be typed, double-spaced, in 12 pt Times or Times New Roman font with 1-inch margins, following the page limits discussed below. Your proposal should include four sections. Proposals will be scored following the weight percents indicated for each section. Incomplete proposals will be rejected without review.

  1. Cover Page
  2. Proposal Body (60%)
  3. References Cited (20%)
  4. Budget and Justification (20%)

Sections Information

  1. Cover Page: The cover page should be downloaded from the link below (http://www.ohiou.edu/geology/financial_support.html) and electronically completed.
  2. Proposal Body (2 pages maximum): The body of the proposal should be subdivided into three sections, all scored with equal weight.
    • Statement of the problem: What question(s) are you trying to answer in your research? What problem(s) are you trying to solve? What hypotheses are you testing?
    • Significance: Why is the work important? Place the project in a disciplinary and, if appropriate, regional context.
    • Methods: Briefly state the methods and approach you will use to accomplish your project.
  3. References (1 page maximum): List all the references cited in your proposal. Do not list additional references.
  4. Budget: A budget worksheet and a sample budget are provided on the following pages.

Submit two copies of your proposal to Dr. Milam by May 1, 2008.
