What
is it?
It
is widely recognized that for a majority of today's couples, both
partners desire employment. When recruiting faculty or staff for
Ohio University, it has become increasingly important to consider
the employment needs of the partner as well as those of the recruit.
In
response to this need, Ohio University initiated the Dual Career
Network in September of 1998. This program is designed to help the
recruit's partner in networking and locating employment opportunities
in the Athens area.
While
employment is not guaranteed, the Dual Career Network will do everything
possible to contribute to the successful recruitment of dual-career
couples.
Eligibility Guidelines:
- You
must be a spouse or benefits-eligible partner of an Ohio University faculty or staff member.

How
Will the Program Help Recruitment?
- When
couples are provided with up-to-date information about local employment
opportunities, they tend to have more confidence in making a decision
to come to Ohio University.
- For
couples trying to make the difficult decision of whether or not
to relocate, it is helpful to know that someone at the university
is working with them to ensure a smooth transition.
- The
Dual Career Network will receive all faculty, professional and
classified job postings from within the university, as well as
job postings from a large number of area university/colleges and
other employers within a 60-mile radius.
The coordinator will make a concerted effort to remain aware of
employment opportunities available in the area. This goal will be
met by staying in contact with employers and by attending local
business and Chamber of Commerce meetings.
