The Classified Senate has established four $1,000 scholarship endowments by the sales of our Coverlet, Pillow, and our new Heritage TShirts. Classified Senate
is responsible for notifying regional
campuses of the existence of the scholarships. Applicants
must submit a copy of their
Regional Campus Scholarship application
to the Athens Student Financial Aid Office by March
1 of each year. Scholarship
recipients are selected by the Office
of Student Financial Aid. The scholarships established
are as follows:
Classified Senate Ohio University Employee
Scholarship
This scholarship is for the spouse or child(ren), defined by the University
Policy for employee fee, of current, retired, or disabled employees. Applicants
must be an undergraduate, full time (16 hours per quarter) student at the Athens
or any regional campus. Applicants must meet established scholarship selection
criteria and have a 3.4 grade point average.
Classified Senate Regional Campus Scholarship
This scholarship is dedicated to a student at a regional campus. The
applicant must be an undergraduate, full time (12 hours per quarter) student
and have a 3.4 grade point average. Scholarships will be awarded at a regional
campus in the following order:
Chillicothe
(1st year)
Eastern
(Belmont)(2nd
year)
Lancaster
(3rd year)
Southern
(Ironton)
(4th year)
Zanesville
(5th year)
If there are no applicants who meet the criteria
for this scholarship at the current year's campus,
it is offered to the next campus.
Classified Senate Academic
Scholarship
This scholarship is for an undergraduate, fulltime (16 hours per quarter)
student at the Athens campus. Upperclass applicants must meet the University
established scholarship criteria of a 3.4 grade point average, 16 hours per
quarter, plus have 48 credit hours by the end of their freshman year. Freshmen
applicants must have an ACT score of 28, a SAT score of 1170, and be in the
top 20 percent of their high school class.
Classified Senate Non-Traditional Scholarship
This scholarship is for an Ohio resident, non-traditional student, defined
as 26 years old or older, with an established financial need as determined
by their application for Federal Student Aid. Applicants must be a fulltime
(12 hours per quarter) undergraduate student, at the Athens or any regional
campus, with a 2.5 grade point average.
Classified Senate Multicultural Scholarship
for Appalachian Students
This scholarship is for Appalachian students. It supports President McDavis’s
initiative to recruit and retain a diverse community of students. It also supports
Provost Krendl’s mission statement to foster a diverse academic community
that serves the economic and cultural needs of the region.
