Project Goals

To work toward a University compensation and reward program that better supports Ohio University's organizational strategy. The scope of this project is to design new base pay systems only.

Current Classified Classification & Compensation Concerns

  • Classifications are outdated
  • Pay ranges are too narrow
  • Pay range compression (there isn't enough difference between midpoints)
  • The system is inflexible:
    - Audits are currently the only way to get a pay increase without moving to a different job
    - There is no way to reward the contributions of high performers

Current Information Technology Concerns

  • Recruiting and retention issues
  • Inconsistencies in pay across the University for similar work
  • No mechanism to reward significant increases in skill
  • Limited flexibility to respond to market conditions
