Patrick Brobbey, wearing a Kente (traditional African tunic),left, talks with Chakari Trotter Saturday night about an upcoming dance in April. The two were attending Saturday evening's celebrations of African heroes" in Baker Center Ballroom. at OU. In a news release, Andrews Ofori Birikorang, vice president pf the African Students Union said,"this year's event is a novelty because it acknowledges that the recognition of an African hero does not only transcend the borders of Africa;it also seeks to bring under one forum a celebration of the deeds of all past heroes and heroines in Africa and the Diaspora." The celebration features a multimedia presentation on work, life and times of many African heroes dating back in time, a dinner with African dishes, and African music, poetry, dance and skits.
